Free Space Quantum Key Distribution over 500 Meters using Electrically Triggered Quantum Dot Single-Photon Sources

Abstract

Quantum key distribution experiments using electrically triggered quantum dot single-photon sources are reported. We achieve sifted key rates of 11.6 kbit/s at a quantum bit error ratio of 6 % over 500 m distance.
