Quantum Information Processing and Quantum Simulations with Trapped Ions

Abstract

The use of trapped ions for quantum information processing is reviewed. Quantum simulations employ well controlled quantum systems to make predictions on another quantum system under investigation. With trapped ions quantum relativistic effects and spin systems are simulated.
