Abstract
We show that optical nanofiber cavity can be realized by drilling periodic nano-grooves on a sub-wavelength diameter silica fiber using focused ion beam milling. Due to both transverse and longitudinal confinement of the field, such a nanofiber cavity can become a promising workbench for cavity-QED.
