Strong Circular Dichroism from Twisted Split-Ring-Resonators

Abstract

We investigate chiral photonic metamaterials composed of stacked layers of twisted split-ring-resonators. Our design allows for strong circular dichroism of up to 33% at optical frequencies. The experiments are in good agreement with theory.
