High-Q photonic nanocavity with a 2-ns photon lifetime

Abstract

We have developed a photonic crystal nanocavity with a quality factor of 2.5×106 and a photon lifetime over 2 ns. This lifetime is the longest recorded thus far in photonic crystal cavities.
