Disorder-induced resonance shifts in photonic crystal nanocavities

Abstract

An optical scattering theory is introduced that predicts significant disorder-induced resonance shifts in photonic-crystal nanocavities. Even for nm-scale imperfections, we calculate blue shifts of several meV, two orders of magnitude larger than the cavity linewidth.
