Far-field Control of the Radiative Lifetime of an Individual Optical Nanocavity

Abstract

Using a scanning metallic probe we demonstrate the first long-range control of the radiative lifetime of an optical nanocavity resonant near 1.5 microns. Changes in lifetime are observed for probe-cavity separations up to 70 microns.
