Spontaneous Decay Trapping and Steering in a Two-dimensional Photonic Crystal

Abstract

We show that both the spontaneous decay and pulse amplification in near-resonance Bragg structures can produce light localization in the bandgap of such structures. This localization is accompanied by formation of a new type of gap soliton.
