Radiative decay and dephasing in plasmonic band gap structures

Abstract

We report spatial and spectral domain measurements of the dephasing of surface plasmon excitations in metal films with periodic nano-hole arrays. A Rayleigh-like scattering of surface plasmons by the periodic hole array is the microscopic origin of the dephasing.
