Quantum interference control of a ballistic pure spin current in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells

Abstract

We demonstrate optical injection of a spin current with no accompanying charge current in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells through quantum interference of one- and two-photon absorption of ~100 fs phase-locked pulses with orthogonal linear polarizations.
