Abstract

Squeezed light^1,2 is light whose complex amplitude exhibits less quantum uncertainty in one quadrature than the other. Such light can be produced by nonlinear optical processes such as parametric downconversion in a χ⁽²⁾ medium. When the pump field contains more than one spatial mode or more than one frequency, multimode squeezing results.
