Exciton formation and ionization revealed via ultrafast THz absorption dynamics

Abstract

We demonstrate a high-sensitivity terahertz probe to study low-energy exciton dynamics and interplay of exciton and free carrier populations in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells. Formation, recombination, and ionization of excitons are studied from a novel perspective.
