Determining the absolute optical phase of two-cycle pulses using extreme nonlinear optics in ZnO

Abstract

The light emitted by ZnO reveals a peak at the carrier-envelope offset frequency fϕ. At the highest intensities, the photon, ponderomotive, Bloch, and Rabi energy become comparable and an additional peak at 2 fϕ emerges.
