Local Optical Properties of Semicontinuous Metallic Films of Varying Metal Concentrations

Abstract

Semicontinuous metallic films with nanoscaled structures exhibit unique optical properties because there always exist structures in resonance with irradiation at any wavelength in the optical and infrared spectral region.1−3 The electric field near such films is highly non-uniform at the nanometer scale, and the local field can exceed the applied field by several orders of magnitude due to localized surface plasmon excitations.
