Abstract
A photonic crystal is a system of periodic structure with bandgap for the propagation of light. It is very challenge, if not possible, to fabricate perfectly ordered structure. Most photonic crystals have some degree of disorder. Opposite to a periodic dielectric structure is a system where the dielectric particles are randomly distributed. The interference of scattered light ultimately leads to light localization. Therefore, light propagation can be inhibited in a disordered media.
