Abstract
To realize an efficient integrated doubler one needs a nonlinear material with high nonlinear coefficients and a process to make low loss waveguides in this material, in a configuration which allows fulfilling the phase matching condition for the interacting wavelengths. This possibility exists and consists of using the mode dispersion to compensate for the natural dispersion of the crystal. With LiNbO3 this can be realized by the Proton Exchange (PE) technique.
