Dynamic tunneling of cold atoms

Abstract

We present the first experimental evidence of dynamic tunneling of ultra-cold rubidium atoms. Rather then tunneling through a potential well, an atom tunnels from its initial motion into a different and oppositely directed motion. This process is classically forbidden.
