Soliton Squeezing at GHz Rate in a Sagnac Loop

Abstract

It is well known that squeezed light can be used to overcome the shot noise limit when applied to phase-sensitive measurements[l]. Thus far this potential has not received much acceptance mainly because of the difficulty in obtaining a high degree of squeezing. In the past, squeezing experiments have either required a very bulky and complex setup, achieved very low levels of squeezing, or required cryogenic temperature operation. In fact most of those experiments suffered from all three. We report the first all-fiber squeezing experiment at room temperature. The experiment operates at 1.55µm and solitons are used as pump pulses.
