Abstract

Solitons are the subject of intense experimental and theoretical investigation due their potential as a telecommunications technology. Understanding how they behave and in the presence of periodicity and dissipation (i.e. gain and loss) is very important. Recently there have been theoretical predictions of soliton instabilities in dissipative systems [1].
