Abstract

The terahertz (THz) regime lies in a relatively unexplored frequency range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Nevertheless, there are abundant physical phenomena at THz frequencies, the study of which would benefit from new, spectrally bright THz sources. The recent development of femtosecond lasers naturally brought about various techniques to generate THz waves, since the inverse pulse duration of femtosecond lasers corresponds to the THz frequency range.
