Abstract
The possibility of using the dynamic shift of the bandgap edge due to the nonlinear (intensity-dependent) additive to the refractive index for optical switching has been demonstrated by Scalora et al.,1 who employed a split-step modified beam propagation method in time domain to analyze the switching of light pulses in a one-dimensional photonic bandgap (PBG) structure
