Abstract
An excitation of coherent optical amplification and oscillation by separate uncorrected pump sources is of particular practical importance. It was pointed out1,2 that such excitation is possible for parametric interactions when a single signal wave is coupled to a set of pump waves through a corresponding set of idler waves. The cumulative driving of a single signal mode by randomly phased pump modes in an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) was observed.3 This feature of parametric interaction also takes place in the parametric oscillators and amplifiers pumped by several intersecting beams of the same frequency4 or by conical beam.5
