Abstract
Bulk LiNbO3 crystals are widely used in a variety of nonlinear-optic devices. To prevent photorefractive damage, high-quality lithium niobate needs to be doped by Mg.1 Under proper conditions, periodic ferroelectric lamellar domain structure appears in doped LiNbO3 crystals with periodic distribution of impurity concentration A Refractive indexes of doped LiNbO3 crystals differ from those of undoped ones. The difference is essential for the angular characteristics of different frequency-conversion processes. There are many methods to measure small deviations in the refractive index dispersion of doped crystals in the visible range.11 However, it is difficult to achieve sufficient accuracy in IR dispersion measurements, PR dispersion of refractive indexes of undoped LiNbO3 crystals was measured by means of IR reflection and transmission spectroscopy,’ three-wave spontaneous parametric (i.e., near-forward Raman) light scattering.5 The last method allowed us to determine the influence of different stoichiometry composition of crystals on their IR dispersion characteristics.
