Abstract

Structure of J aggregates has been discussed by many scientists after their discovery.1 Recently, a new model for hierarchic structure of J aggregates, mesoaggregates and macro-aggregates, is proposed on the basis of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the oriented pseudoisocyanine (PIC) J aggregates prepared by a novel vertical spincoating method.2 The mesoaggregate is characterized by coherent exciton delocalized over the mesoscopic size, while the macroaggregate can be oriented by macroscopic centrifugal force of solvent flow (Fig. 1).
