Abstract
Photorefractive solitons are particularly interesting since they have potential for application as beam steering, reconfigurable optical interconnect and nonlinear optical devices. Several generic types of photorefractive solitons have been predicted and observed thus far: quasisteady-state solitons,1,2 photovoltaic solitons,3,4 and screening solitons.5-9 In addition, resonant self-trapping in photorefractive semiconductors10 and self-trapping of a partially spatially incoherent beam11 were reported recently.
