Phase-coherent control of polar molecular order using dual-frequency interferences with circularly polarized beams

Abstract

A generalization of polarization holography to the case of dual frequency fields is presented. Appropriate combinations of circular polarizations induce nearly perfect dipolar and octupolar orders in a polymer consisting of linear molecules. Writing-beams phase retardation angle is coded into a rotation of the nonlinear pattern by the same angle.
