Abstract

Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in three-level atomic systems with cw diode lasers has been experimentally investigated in recent years.1-3 The BIT effect has applications in lasing without population inversion, nonlinear optical processes, and atomic spectroscopy. In this paper we present an experimental study of noise properties of EIT processes in three-level cascade-type and Λ-type atomic systems.
