Abstract

On very short time or length scales the semiclassical Boltzmann kinetics has to be replaced by quantum kinetics,1–3 To understand the necessity for this replacement we remember that the structure of changes of the population in the Boltzmann kinetics is given by the scattering integral. For the example of electron scattering with longitudinal optical phonons, the changes of the reduced electron density matrix ρk(t) have the form
