Prospects for emission tomography of nonclassical molecular vibrational states

Abstract

Several recent optical and spectroscopic experiments have demonstrated methods by which the quantum mechanical state of a system may be determined. That is, the density matrix of the state has been reconstructed from a set of measurements on a ensemble of identically prepared systems. Many of these methods make use of a relationship between the measured quantities and a particular representation of the density matrix of the system that suggests a pleasing analogy with tomography. Indeed, tricks from this field are used to invert the data.
