Abstract

A great deal of effort has been made to clarify the optical properties of one-dimensional excitons in J-aggregates of cyanine dyes.1,2 However, the macroscopic sizes of the J-aggregates have not yet been established, because the samples of J-aggregates in previous studies have been limited to isotropically dispersed systems in solutions.1 Recently, we developed a novel preparation method for highly oriented J- aggregates dispersed in a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film.2-4
