Robust Operation of a dual-core fiber ring laser

Abstract

Recently, Winful and Walton1 proposed a dual-core mode-locked fiber laser. This approach with dual-core fiber is particularly attractive because the second core provides a saturable-absorber action that not only strongly reduces pulse duration, but also efficiently removes energy shed by the pulse. To the best of our knowledge, no one has published an experimental realization of this laser.
