Abstract

The pioneering experiments on the coherent dynamics of excitons1 and continuum states2 in semiconductors have opened a new field of research. Employing transient four-wave mixing (FWM) they were able to determine the phase relaxation time, i.e. T2 of excitons and continuum states, respectively. In this paper we review the progress in refined experimental techniques as well as in the understanding of the microscopic physics of the underlying scattering processes.
