Abstract
An overview of applied laser spectroscopy with special emphasis on energy, environmental, and medical research is given. Combustion diagnostics and atmospheric pollution monitoring are examples of gasphase applications, while vegetation studies and early cancer detection illustrate spectroscopy on complex, aggregated molecules.
