Abstract

Carrier capture in quantum wells is a quantum-mechanical effect that depends strongly on wave-function overlap between initial (barrier) and final (well) carrier states. Calculations in which capture by means of LO-phonon emission were considered have predicted that strong resonances should occur as a function of well width.1 Such resonances have not yet been established experimentally.
