Abstract
The carrier dynamics in high-temperature superconductors (HTS) have been recently studied by femtosecond pump-probe experiments. In particular, room-temperature femtosecond time-resolved measurements of differential reflectivity ΔR/R at 2 eV (Refs. 1 and 2) hinted that there must be a difference in the Fermi-level Ef positions between the oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor YBa2−Cu3−Ox (YBCO) thin films. The determination of the exact position of Ef in the HTS materials is very important since it should shed a new light on the origin of superconductivity in these materials.
