Abstract

In this paper we report observations of amplitude squeezing in a single-mode index-guided quantum-well laser (Spectra Diode Laboratories SDL-5410-C). Squeezing of as much as to 1.4 dB in a collimated system and 2.9 dB in an unsaturated close-coupled system has been obtained at 10 to 20 K.4 Using an external cavity to eliminate the side modes of the laser and to permit wavelength tuning, we also report up to 0.9 dB of room-temperature squeezing tunable from 837 to 843 um.
