Abstract

Recent advances in laser trapping and cooling1 permit the preparation of cold, dense atomic samples, which have important potential applications, including the development of optical frequency standards. To investigate the related challenges, we performed high-resolution optical spectroscopy on las er-trapped and-cooled sodium, atoms (Doppler-less spectroscopy).
