Abstract
The excitonic nonlinear optical response in semiconductors is primarily due to phase- space-filling (PSF) effects and exciton-exciton interactions. Recent four-wave-mixing (FWM) measurements demonstrate that effects similar to Lorentz local fields and induced by the exciton-exciton interaction dominate the nonlinear optical response in GaAs quantum wells.1,2
