Abstract
Nonclassical effects of resonance fluorescence such as antibunching and sub-Poisson- ian statistics, have been observed,1,2 These properties of the radiation field are based on measurements of the intensity and its statistics and hence are insensitive to the phase of the field. On the other hand, phase-dependent squeezing in resonance fluorescence has been predicted.3 A proposal was made to observe this effect in a homodyne measurement of the photocounting statistics,4 but the expected signal in such a measurement is extremely small, limited by the detection and collection efficiencies.
