Structural studies of large species in molecular beams

Abstract

We have measured the Raman spectra of isotopically pure and mixed clusters of benzene [up to (benzene)8] in the region of the totally symmetric ring breathing fundamental (ν1) and in the region of the totally symmetric C-H stretch fundamental (ν2) by mass-selective ionization-detected stimulated Raman spectroscopy (IDSRS) techniques. IDSRS methods provide the sensitivity and species selectivity that is required for the medium- to high-resolution vibrational spectroscopy of weakly bound clusters.
