Abstract

There has been significant progress in the characterization of photodissociation dynamics of small molecules in rare-gas crystals. The aim of these studies is to provide a first-principles understanding of many-body interactions in condensed media with structural order. As such, the experimental studies are complemented by molecular dynamics simulations. Examples are given to illustrate the interplay between experiment and theory in developing a firm understanding of dynamical details.
