Abstract
Recent three-pulse transient four-wave mixing (FWM) measurements on hhl excitons in GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum wells (MQW) using linearly polarized incident fields have shown that the nature of the emitted signal is transformed from a stimulated photon echo (SPE) to a tree polartzatton decay (FPD) by rotating the polarization of the first field.1 Dephasing rate data indicate that the SPE and the FPD arise from separate populations of excitons present in the MQW, corresponding to excitons localized by disorder and delocalized excitons.
