Abstract

Much attention has recently been focused on the development of laser sources capable of sub picosecond terawatt and multiterawatt pulses. One interest in these sources is the production of very high energy-density plasmas that cxplore extreme regimes of atomic equation-of-state, in which the physics of ionization and atomic line formation is substantially altered.
