Abstract
Although multi photon detachment of a negative ion was first observed several years ago by Hall et al.,1 a renewed interest, both experimental and theoretical, has occurred only recently. Current work is stimulated by the qualitatively different features of the physics is analogous studies with neutral atoms.2 In particular, the short-range nature of the potential and the strong electron-correlation effects in negative ions offer new opportunities in multiphoton physics.
