Abstract

Coherent transient phenomena are attracting much attention because of their potential in time-domain optical memory· and optical signal processing.1 Since rare-earth ions doped in amorphous materials show a broad inhomogeneous linewidth, they should allow ultrafast coherent transient phenomena.
