Abstract
Passively mode-locked fiber lasers are an established source of ultra short pulses.1-4 Pulse-widths <100 fs and pulse energies of several 100 pl can conveniently be obtained with large-frame pump sources. Here we discuss the design considerations for a diode- pumped passively mode-locked Nd:glass fiber laser and demonstrate its operation as part of a Nd:glass oscillator-amplifier system delivering sub-picosecond pulses with an energy of 25 µJ.
