Abstract

Recent cw measurements have revealed that vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) do not follow a polarization selection rule,1 may have a processing-dependent polarization direction for the fundamental mode, 2 and may also exhibit a current-dependent output polarization due to the turn-on of orthogonally polarized transverse modes.1
