Abstract
Intense beams of the stable carbon molecules are generated by pulsed-laser desorption from the corresponding Cn solids (11 = 60, 70, 76-78, or 84) into a helium nozzle jet. Resonant two- photon ionization spectroscopy reveals the excited-state properties of these novel spherical molecules.
