Coherent laser action in LaF3:Pr3+

Abstract

We are intensively studying the phenomena of coherent interaction of light pulses with resonant media (optical nutation, self-induced transparency, and photon echo). These phenomena provide information about the relaxation processes after light excitation. Coherent effects take place only when excitation pulses are shorter than typical times T2 and T1 of the resonant-media.
