Abstract

Previous studies of laser multiphoton ionization (MPI) of UF6 at room temperature have shown intense signals of multiply charged uranium ions by using the fourth harmonic (266 nm) of a Nd:YAG laser1 or the ArF* excimer laser operating at 193 nm.2 Ten-times ionized uranium (U+10) was reported in the ArF* experiment, requiring more than 100 photons.
